Lüder's parking garage in Nordhavn, Copenhagen, is the future of parking garages, combining parking with recreational spaces and versatile features.
Lüder's parking garage is a unique, versatile, multi-storey car park in Nordhavn. It houses a neighbourhood recycling station, a grocery store, almost 500 vehicles, and the rooftop has a 2,400 m2 urban public space with facilities for exercising, playing and relaxing.
At a height of 24 metres, the roof provides a rare view of Copenhagen, the Øresund strait and the entrance to the harbour. The buildings architecture relates to the history of the location in the old free port.
The Lüders Exercise Roof is a public urban space. The exercise facilities actually start at ground level: the outdoor staircases on two of the car park’s façades can be used for the likes of jogging and interval workouts en route up to the building’s roof.
The roof has been fitted with frames and benches, making it possible to practise various types of exercise and providing space for simply passing the time of day and enjoying the wonderful view of the water. If you are the active type, you can practise cross gym, TRX, box jumps, jogging (on the stairs and on the 60-metre sprinting track) and panna football. You can also swing, jump on the mini trampolines and scale the climbing spiral.
