It's dad joke Friday!! I've got a shockingly good one for you today! And it comes along with another powerful photoelectric basics: "𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒂 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒖-𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌?"
Photoelectric sensors are some of the most commonly used sensors in factory automation. Typically you see through beam sensors as two sensor housings: one emitter housing and one receiver housing.
The major benefits of a thrubeam sensor include:
✅ Really long ranges like 50-60 meters (~200ft) or more!
✅ Most reliable photoelectric technology
But there are two downsides for some applications like:
👉 You need to have access to electrical connections on both sides
👉 Emitter/Receiver alignment can be challenging in long distance or infrared applications.
