Experts are important and can provide great help and advice built on decades of experience in a particular field. I know this and I am an expert in my field and I am able to provide great assistance to my clients.
However, experts have a responsibility to do more than just provide an opinion. With decades of experience, experts should be able to share the process, show the data in an open manner, and demonstrate that there is clear evidence grounded in reality without bias or agenda.
I would not expect my clients to just accept my opinion, and I would feel obligated to show the process and the results with full transparency.
I am not seeing this in the public arena and we should be slow to accept assertions without clear evidence. We need to address the risk-reward analysis on many critical topics in our lives. That applies now as well.
