Second Arrangement - Steely Dan (The Definitive Restoration)
I spent about a week working on it, and maybe came up with something that sounds as good as possible given the source audio. Huge respect and thanks to those who restored this classic track up now, including @SirMixALotRareMusic
Not sure if what I made is better, at least a different view of the song. Using iZotope RX8, I had pretty good success at separating vocals, percussion, bass, and everything else into separate isolated tracks, after which a lot of noise reduction went into place, essing, de-essing, click-removing, spot fixing bleeps and bloops, de-wowing...
Finally compiled and mixed down in Sony Acid Pro 7, this audio goes into "reconstruction" territory as I used the artificially created stems to mix the song as I would my own, applying various filters and effects to subtly boost missing frequencies and to widen the sonic space a little bit to bring back some life into this dusty tape.
