Israel Assassinates Iranian Official
An Israeli airstrike reportedly destroyed the Iranian consulate in Syria assassinating the commander of the IRGC as well as 5 other officials and reportedly his deputy. This is the most senior member of the IRGC to be assassinated since the US drone’d Soleimani. This is big, not just because of the target but because of the location. The airstrike was conducted on the consulate building just feet away from the Iranian and Canadian embassy which has been closed for 12 years. Iran says they will respond harshly and that the strike violates all diplomatic norms and international law.
