Final Fantasy VII Remake - Fast AP Farming
Getting psyched for Rebirth! Nothing too groundbreaking here, just posting my favorite AP farming steps in case someone else might find them useful.
1. Start Chapter 17 on hard mode, talk to Chadley, and visit the Shinra combat simulator next to him.
2. Prep Aerith with First Strike and a Wind linked to Magnify. Fill the rest of her slots with whatever materia you want to grow.
3. Your other party member (presumably Cloud) is just a materia mule. Strap on some slot rich gear and load them to the gills. Don't forget about AP Up. I prefer to link it to slow growth materia like Elemental or Warding.
4. Start the simulator and pick Two-Person Team vs. High Flyers. Make sure Aerith is the leader.
5. Unleash some wind magic at the start of every round. For Round 1, Aerora will do just fine. Crank it up to Aeroga for the others. Aerith can usually drop everyone right out of the gate. Another dose of Aerora or a few normal attacks will mop up any stragglers. Shouldn't take more than 10 seconds per round.
6. Watch as Cloud poses like the totally useful bodyguard he is. :P
7. Don't bother beating the Rust Drake (last round) unless you really need the money (you get some items or 2,000 Gil). The time you spend isn't with the AP. Just pause, select give up, re-challenge, and loop.
Total time for each loop is around 30 seconds and you'll be swimming in AP before you know it. Each loop costs 400 gil. That's pocket change by the time you get here. Make sure to watch the battle gains readout for materia upgrades so you know when to stop and swap out your load. You don't want to waste time on something that's already maxed out.
Note you don't have to use Aerith and Cloud. Others can work too, but I prefer Aerith on point because of her high natural magic attack. Tifa is probably the best mule just because her speed can shave a second or two off any mop up duty, but at that point you're splitting hairs.
