Real Time Events (RTS)
Real-Time Events (RTE)Nomura stated in July 2011 that all the event scenes in the game will be in real-time, and the player will still be in control of the main character while they are happening. The player will be able to run around and perform various actions during the event scenes. Nomura has called these new types of event scenes 'Real-Time Events' (RTE) and states that their inclusion has resulted in Final Fantasy Versus XIII having the type of storytelling that you see in FPS games rather than JRPGs.
The Real-Time Events will be triggered by the player unexpectedly and with no forewarning. Players should expect to suddenly trigger certain Real-Time Events while just walking around. For example, while Noctis is running down a road, an airship suddenly crashes into a building in front of him and then falls to the ground. It then explodes causing it to flip into the air and go flying over Noctis while the player is still controlling him.
