an architectural and historical gem suffused with mystery and beauty - a synthesis of christian, pagan and masonic imagery abounds and music is at the heart ( and for some it is the key) of this unusual yet stunning little church just outside edinburgh.
i could not resist playing in the lower chapel and the accoustics are incredible- the natural reverb so intense you hardly had to touch the hang and it sung like an angelic voice-
an amazing experience but not unlike playing in humayons tomb in delhi with spyro , as you cant quite relax totally because you keep expecting to get thrown out ! this time thankfully no one stopped me as i played whilst a guided tour was taking place just up the stairs in the main church so i got to play for 12 minutes or so before i decided to stop pushing my luck- i wonder what those people thought !
one woman, from germany i think, sat on the floor and watched whilst i played and was rather overcome- the beauty of the hang that the sublime skills of sabina and felix have created - blessings to them X
