NieR: Automata | Pascal’s Despair
Although A2 and Pascal were able to defeat the hostile machines, it is too late for the children. Out of fear of being hunted they committed suicide by destroying their own cores. Unable to cope with their loss, Pascal pleads with A2 to either wipe his memory data or to kill him. A2 grants his wish, genuinely feeling sorry for him.
