Finally won my first tournament. It was team tournament on CONOWINGO reservoir. This was the CONOWINGO Bass Open Championship. My buddy, Jim Shinn and I never practice for this tournament. We just showed up and figured out the puzzle on the fly against 32 other boats. It was one bait that caught most of the winning fish and culled out all the others. That bait will remain a secret 😎.
It was an amazing yet humbling experience to win a tournament. So many times I have been close only to be edged out at the end. But today it was different we actually came in with enough weight to get over the hump.
I haven’t been to CONOWINGO in over a year. There was no expectations for this event other than just have some fun. I was a last minute stand in for his regular team member and it worked out. I always wanted to know what it felt like to win a bass tournament. It is extraordinarily difficult to do and you do need a bit of luck. Like the 5 pounder Jim reeled in towards the end of the day. We were the definition of ham and egging a tournament.
Jim Shinn and I were together for his 1st win years ago when I met him as a co-angler for the 1st time. We’ve been friends ever since. Now, for this thing to come full circle, and we’re together for what will be mine, and his first win together was just amazing.
Money comes and goes but champions are forever! #bassfishing #fishing #conowingo #agentwynnoutdoors
