Shari Ulrich - “Canada” session
I couldn’t resist posting some footage of the recording of the song “Canada” today - on Canada Day. from my new release on Borealis Records - Back To Shore.
Canada is my adopted country, and I’m very very happy that they took me in when I was 19 years old.
When I was writing this album I picked up a “strumstick", the most basic instrument known to man, given to me by the builder Bern MacLeod, and this song popped out.
Engineer Julia Graff shot footage of the recording of 3 of the songs on the album and we haven’t actually gone that far with editing yet, So this isn’t the final video -just a little teaser that seemed appropriate to send out today considering it’s OUR BIRTHDAY! The musicians are Rob Becker on bass, Geoff Hicks on percussion, Dave Barber on 5 string banjo, Cara Luft on Clawhammer banjo, Julia Graff and Kirby Barber on vocals, me on the strumstick and mandolin. To come in the next version is my fiddle, and and Julia on accordion. Theres a little glimpse of fellow engineer James Perrella in there too!
