Bob Backlund & The JBL Boombox - eBay Technical Support Scam
The team and I had a very busy and productive day. Many numbers were reported and many were suspended for fraud. During one of these write ups, some eBay scammers made the mistake of calling me on my VoIP line. Not once, but twice. I had never dealt with eBay scammers before and given that I myself was trying to fight sleep, I figured that the challenge might keep me awake. Being half asleep feels terrible but it worked in my favor. I could not stop rambling about my fake JBL Boombox that I bought on eBay. It quickly became apparent to me that these scammers had the patience of a fly. The scammers would eventually ditch both of their phone numbers rather quickly.
These calls are my favorite calls to make, even if I'm half asleep. Ill-tempered scammers are the best as their days are easily ruined by my non stop ramblings.
