Most modern prime lenses have impressive sharpness, and 24mp has become the floor for most camera APS-C and full frame sensors. Essentially, any prime lens on an interchangeable lens camera is going to give you considerably more leeway to crop and recompose than a smartphone. Here's what this means in practical terms.
Deer are frequent visitors to my workplace. I often see them wandering across the grassy sections of the parking lot or through the surrounding wooded areas. On this day, a fawn decided to rest among the thistles in a green space sandwiched on either side by large, windowed halls. I brought my camera with me that day to take on a lunchtime walk, but did not have my telephoto lens. What a great opportunity to test these perceptual megapixels!
