Substrata Glass Coverslip Removal Instructions | Angstrom Engineering
This is a tutorial video for safely removing Substrata coverslip products from a Gel-Pak® box.
The glass coverslips are extremely delicate and must be handled with care to avoid cracking them. Patience is critical to this process.
OPTION 1: DIRECT REMOVAL
1. Open lid container.
2. Use flat wafer tweezers to gently pry between the cover glass and the gel. DO NOT USE POINTED TWEEZERS. This will increase your risk of cracking the glass.
3. Make sure to lightly dig into the gel to get the wafer flat underneath the glass.
4. A slight twist with the tweezer should release the cover glass from the gel.
OPTION 2: GEL REMOVAL
1. Pull on the provided tab to release the corner of the gel from the box.
2. Gently pull the gel away from the box and avoid bending the coverslips as best as you can.
3. Place onto a flat surface.
4. Bend the gel away from the glass to release the coverslip from the surface. You can use a finger to press onto the backside of the glass through the gel which should also help to release it.
