Tonight marks Rounds 21 and 22 of the 2023 Skip Barber Challenge Trophy as brought to you on iRacing; hosted by Gone Skippin’ Racing and sponsored by Musical Money with the aim of keeping the Skippy alive!
In the penultimate pair of rounds our drivers head to the American state of New York for the much-loved Watkins Glen International circuit. Affectionately referred to as “The Glen”, the venue has rapidly evolved over its 72 year history into a course which has played host to most, if not all, classes of road racing machine on an international scale. Known for its high average lap speed; sweeping corners with varying levels of road camber; and extended straights, the track naturally generates thrilling racing with battles never too far away. As the field takes to the 11 corner “Classic Boot” layout of the circuit tonight, we can expect the racing to go the distance all the way to the finishing line!
In the drivers’ championship, with Adam Miles securing victory in both races at Belle Isle last week, the battle for the crown rages on with Nathan Wade’s lead of 156 points continuing to demand perfection from Miles should he wish to steal the title away from Wade come the season finale. The pressure will be on Miles to prolong his streak of victories tonight, but with The Glen expected to bunch-up the field for both races, will Miles be able to steer clear of his rivals? Could we see Wade return to the top-step of the podium? Or will we see a new name in the spotlight tonight?
