With the latest issue of Mopar Collectors Guide now out with my coverage from Indy, this is a look at every single car that was on hand for the 2024 Sox & Martin Hemi Challenge at Indianapolis Raceway Park (Lucas Oil Raceway Park) during the running of the NHRA 70th Annual U.S. Nationals. A true example of #moparornocar , the 1968 Hurst Hemi Barracuda mule car was here as well, and we will have a feature on it before MCACN, where it has been invited as a star. While #NHRA #dragracing is best known for the nitro classes like Top Fuel and Funny Car, the #Dodge Darts and #Plymouth Barracudas played a huge role in the formation of Pro Stock, becoming the pinnacle of class-specific factory lightweight racecars soon after their debut. Indeed, NHRA eventually adjusted the weight breaks to make these #chrysler products the sole contestants in the A category. Years later, the #hemi automatic (SS/AA) and manual (SS/A) divisions were combined into what today is known as SS/AH and #Mopar stepped to sponsor this program at Indy each year. With Mike McCandless and the Sox & Martin name now associated with the special "race within a race". attendance in 2024 was large at 24 entries, showcasing five rounds of eliminations on Friday.
