In this video, I create an abstract painting during a 15-minute warm-up session based on a simple art prompt. These warm-ups are a fun and creative way to explore colors and shapes while expressing your artistic style. If you're looking for inspiration for your next painting, why not try using the colors of a local bird as a simple art prompt? This can be a great way to connect with nature and explore the unique hues and tones of your local environment.

To begin your painting, you will first need to choose a local bird to use as your inspiration, I chose a magpie. Take a close look at the colors of the bird's feathers, noting the shades of each color and how they blend together. Then, choose a canvas or other surface to paint on and gather your materials, including acrylic or oil paints, brushes, and any other tools you may want to use, such as sponges or palette knives.

Next, begin to apply the colors to your canvas or paper, using a variety of brushstrokes and techniques to create interesting textures and patterns. With this simple art prompt, don't worry too much about creating a realistic representation of the bird - instead, focus on capturing the essence of its colors and incorporating them into your own artistic style.

As you work, take breaks to step back and evaluate your progress, adjusting your approach as needed to achieve the desired effect. Remember that the idea of an abstract painting is all about expressing emotion and feeling, so don't be afraid to experiment with different color combinations and techniques to create a truly unique and personal piece.

Once you're happy with your painting, take a moment to reflect on the experience of creating it from an art prompt and the freedom of painting. Not only have you explored the beauty of the local bird and its colors, but you've also expressed your own creative vision and style with this painting idea. Who knows - your abstract painting may even inspire others to explore their own artistic passions and connect with the natural world around them.

Thanks for watching and keep on painting!
