BAWANG MERAH BAWANG PUTIH
Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih is an Indonesian folktale about a kind girl, Bawang Putih, who lives with her cruel stepmother and lazy stepsister, Bawang Merah. One day, after losing her stepmother’s shawl in the river, Bawang Putih finds it at an old woman’s house and kindly helps her with chores. As a reward, she receives a pumpkin full of gold and jewels. Out of greed, Bawang Merah tries to do the same but treats the old woman rudely, and when she opens her pumpkin, it is full of snakes and poisonous creatures, teaching the lesson that kindness and humility bring rewards, while greed and arrogance lead to trouble.
