"I want to make a lighting plan but don't know where to start! Help!"
If you're a beginning or even advanced videographer, thinking about and making lighting plans for your short films, commercials or any other scripted project is fun and challenging task. Even if you're just preparing a corporate interview that you would like to shoot with two lights on two DSLR or mirrorless cameras, making a lighting plan is a useful exercise.

In the above article that you can find in the ExposureWorks Library I discuss how using any kind of lens is, on a fundamental level, about translating 3D reality into a 2D image. I point out that when designing lighting, we tend look at mood boards and reference images that are flat, 2D photos. To achieve those results, however, you should start thinking in terms of space and volume, that is 3D.
