Lucy's peaceful life is shattered when her husband is attacked by a zombified Michael Jackson fan. She manages to escape, only to find her whole neighborhood overrun by celebrity-worshipping zombies. The zombies, called stans, are determined to convert everyone into fans like themselves. Lucy fights to survive, discovering that the "Stan-demic" was caused by a devastating virus. She forms a group with other survivors and they travel across the country, encountering other groups who still believe in common sense. Despite the darkness, Lucy never loses hope and ultimately discovers her own strength and courage. She survives the stan apocalypse and finds that the journey was worthwhile.
