Colloquium: Graduate Student Well-being Informational Seminar
This informational seminar will focus on graduate well-being, including relationships with advisors and peers, recommendations for health, and important resources that are available for students. The featured speakers will be:
Thomas Miebach - Thomas is a Clinical Counselor/Crisis Triage Case Manager at the Counseling Center. He oversees the crisis/triage services at the Counseling Center and also serves on the Suicide Intervention Team and Suicide Prevention Outreach Team. Thomas coordinates the trauma response services provided to the UIUC campus. Prior to working at the Counseling Center, he worked as a Crisis Clinician providing crisis mental health services to the Champaign-Urbana area.
Ann Marie Morgan - Ann Marie is an Assistant Dean in the Office of Students, serving as a resource and support to faculty, students, and staff. The Student Assistance Center is accessible via phone, Zoom, and e-mail, and the staff is happy to respond to questions and concerns of any kind. If the Student Assistance Center is unable to provide the requested type of help needed, they will be able to direct you to the department that can provide you with the type of help you have requested.
Michael L. Oelze - Michael will discuss the Climate Survey, which was taken by ECE graduate students earlier this Spring. "While many of our ECE students felt supported in their graduate studies, there are certain areas in which we can do better. Specific areas suggested by our ECE students will be discussed, and how we can improve in those to better help the students."
Corey Snyder - Corey is the chair of the ECE Graduate Student Advancement Committee (GradSAC). The goals of this committee are to communicate graduate interests with department leadership and to promote a healthier student community.
