‘Indrani’, directed by Niren Lahiri, is an Uttam Kumar-Suchitra Sen love story with some added twists, different from the typical on-screen romance of any film featuring the pair. It’s a film much ahead of its time, breaking the stereotypes at that time. It’s one of the very few early films in Indian cinema that dealt with the ramifications of a husband-wife relationship where the wife becomes successful and the husband fails to succeed in life.

Indian film copyright (including video, dialog, music, lyrics, songs) lasts for sixty years and any film and its songs released more than sixty years ago is in the public domain. No extensions, no renewals, no exceptions. This film is no longer protected by copyright.
