✔️ The first interesting fact about the Spartan symbol, which looks like an upside-down V. It's the flag of Sparta and actually represents the letter L for Laconia, the ancient name of Sparta.
Sparta was the name of the first Spartan queen, married to Lacedaemon, who was the son of Zeus and named the city after his queen, Sparta.
The origin of the Spartans comes from the Dorians, who were considered barbarians. They invaded and looted cities.
The Dorians had advanced military knowledge and iron weapons that were superior to the bronze weapons used by the Greeks.
The Dorians invaded the city of Laconia and conquered it, enslaving the survivors in a system of servitude.
These servants were called Helots, who outnumbered the Spartans. Therefore, the state decided to divide them among each Spartan, totaling seven servants for each Spartan.
The risk of rebellion was imminent, so the Spartans were forced to remain on high alert at all times. They trained daily, increasing their physical strength and battle strategies, and subjugating the servants to demonstrate authority and prevent rebellions.
The Krypteia council was where the Spartans met to punish the rebellious Helots.
Where does this Spartan essence originate?
1) Descendants of the Dorians, who were barbarians and militarized.
2) A constant state of alert due to the large number of servants who could rebel at any moment, forcing the Spartans to train constantly to subdue their servants.
Comparing Spartan society to today, every day there are people and institutions that try to take advantage of us. Dishonest people hide behind institutions, imposing rules and taxes that harm others, making it impossible to identify them.
