Why do so many people believe that the current political situation is comparable to that of the GDR? Dr. Andreas Kötzing, a historian at the Hannah Arendt Institute for Totalitarian Studies, answers this question and provides possible causes and background information in the video. Because although today little or nothing reminds us of the political conditions in the GDR, one in three people in Saxony agree with the statement “Our country now seems to be more of a dictatorship than a democracy”.
