full tutorial on how to off the wall controlled musty in rocket league! the off the wall controlled musty in rocket league boils down to 3 basic steps:
1. the setup
2. the flip cancel
3. the musty itself
in this tutorial, I explain the nuances to each step and how to master them so that your controlled musty will come together in game. I also referenced some resources from myself and others, which you can find below.

finally, here's how i worked on aerial car control, recoveries, flips, and interactions with the ball by using lethamyr's rings map:
1. go through as fast as i can, not worrying about failing. going break-neck speed so that i can work on my eyes' ability to adapt and see ahead further, etc.
2. turn on unlimited flips, and use them wherever i can (and even where i shouldn't, to force myself into a 'recovery' mode)
3. this one is weird, but actually hitting the rings*
*your car will move in unexpected ways when you slam into a ring, which will make for an unexpected recovery. this will train your brain to react to weird situations, and train the speed at which it can.
now, for getting used to interacting with the ball, you can train a couple of things:
1. air dribbles (the base of freestyling is gonna be when you think of the ball as an extension of your car and you move almost as one body)
2. flipping into the ball
for the first part, just booting up an air-dribble training pack or workshop map can do (lmk if you need recs), but part 2 is a little harder. getting resets from flipping is a delicate and difficult process. you have to get your car into position, at the right momentum, and then execute the right flip (which might be 5-10 inputs that have to be perfect). fortunately, this is another thing that comes down to reps and intuition. the more you train different mechanics, the more youll understand about how your car interacts with the ball.
so, id recommend trying to train pre-flip air dribbles of 2 types:
1. get a touch off the wall thats close to you, then flip into it so that the instant you flip (or close to), you make contact
2. get a touch slightly further, so that your flip will take you to the ball and youll reach it (and get your first touch) at the end of the flip animation
both of these types of air dribbles require a lot of precision, but the movements will end up being quite similar to double reset movements.
*BONUS TIP*
understanding how to control the power of the flick:
This comes down to distance from the ball when you initiate your flip cancel, distance from the ball when you un-cancel, the angle of your car, as well as how long you held the flip cancel. This is something that comes down entirely to feel (for the most part). If you watch back all of the flip cancels in this tutorial, almost each one is different. If you can spot the nuances, you'll be golden.
