In October 2016, the FAAM aircraft flew over Iceland to detect trace amounts of gases being emitted by volcanoes, which are not currently erupting. The aim of the project is to find out if these gases, such as hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide, can be used as indicators of future eruptions. Professor Stephen Mobbs talks about the trip whilst at Manchester Airport (for NERC's Into the blue environmental science showcase).
