In Instagantt (https://instagantt.com/), a task is an activity that needs to be carried out within a defined period. Tasks represent the steps you must complete to execute your plan, and as such, they’re the most essential element to your Gantt chart.

At some point in your projects, you may need to delete or edit aspects of your tasks. After all, projects are prone to all kinds of changes and variations, at any given time. Luckily, editing or deleting them is almost as easy as adding tasks to Instagantt.

In case you need to clear the dates from a task in your project, simply locate and click on a task, and click on Remove dates. You can also do this by hovering over the task and clicking on the edit icon next to the taskbar.

Once you’ve removed the dates, you can simply reschedule your task by choosing a new date from the calendar or by scheduling it directly over your chart.

You can also edit several different things. For instance, you can rename a task by clicking on the edit pencil next to the task’s name and entering a new name.

You can assign your task to one of your team members, convert a task into a milestone, or you can change the color of your tasks by selecting the color pallet from the task view and choosing from the 15 different tones. Colors are a great way to differentiate your tasks and to quickly identify your project’s information.

In case you need to remove a task because it’s just no longer necessary, simply select the task and locate the Delete button.

If you’re looking to organize your tasks, you’ll need to know there are two options you can choose from: maintaining the manual order of creation or sorting them by date, which is the recommended method because this way, your tasks will be listed chronologically. You can locate these options on the right side of your chart.

You can also create different sections to separate your tasks and to create multiple blocks of work. Sections can differentiate several stages of your project and they help make tasks more manageable by breaking down your project into different groups of tasks that need to be performed. Tasks can also be broken down into multiple sub-tasks, which can help you split a large complex activity into smaller tasks for easier completion.

And if your task list is rather long, then filters will come in handy to you. You can filter through tasks or locate several different tasks at a time based on specific criteria. You can choose to filter tasks that have a specific person assigned. Or you can filter tasks by a specific tag. When you’ve selected the appropriate tags from the list, only the tasks that are marked with these tags will be shown on the Gantt chart, making it a lot easier to check them or review them.

If you have assigned priority and risk levels to your tasks, you can leverage filters to focus on tasks that require urgency and attention. Also, you can filter by Progress or Status, and quickly visualize what’s finished, what work hasn’t been started, and if any tasks are holding off your team’s progress.

And now that you’ve learned these few tricks, you’re ready to manage truly remarkable projects with Instagantt!
