ABYSSINIAN ON CLAY 🚰
An Abyssinian well, Abyssinian well, or needle well is a small-diameter borehole used to extract water from underground at a shallow depth, typically 5-12 m (18-25 m). The well is constructed from a plastic pipe (HDPE, PP, or 32 mm metal), with a filter at the bottom (stainless steel mesh, polymer mesh, or HDPE filter). Water is pumped from such a structure using a hand pump, a self-priming centrifugal surface pump, or a gasoline pump. It's quick to construct and much cheaper than a well for a submersible pump. It doesn't work everywhere! Only in sandy aquifers, where the static water level is no more than 8 meters. The well itself can be any depth: 10, 20, 30 meters, or more. The average service life of this well is 15-30 years.
