Phase spiders—monstrosities that attack from the ETHERAL PLANE (D&D Compendium of Monsters)
Phase spiders are monstrosities that appear when your DM is messing with you. Why else would a spider be able to attack from the Ethereal Plane?! I think the most ghastly aspect of phase spiders is their egg nests can exist anywhere, but typically hidden on the Ethereal Plane for maximum security. It sounds like a wild quest hook for a pugnacious level 3 party.
