A stye is a bacterial infection of the eyelash follicle that appears as a small, pus-filled bump at the base of the eyelashes 👁️🔴. Don't confuse it with a chalazion, which is a blocked and inflamed meibomian gland.

What to do if you have a stye? 🤔

To speed up the healing of a stye, apply warm, moist compresses to your eyelid several times a day 💧. Wash your face, including the area around your eyes, twice a day after thoroughly washing your hands 🧼✋. Avoid touching the area, squeezing the stye, and no makeup or contact lenses until it heals! 🚫💄👓

See a doctor promptly if the stye is very inflamed and spreading! You'll need topical antibiotics 🏥💊.

To prevent styes, avoid touching your eyes with dirty hands 🙅‍♀️🦠. Throw away expired cosmetics or makeup, and clean your brushes regularly 🗑️💄🖌️. Remove your makeup thoroughly at night 🌙✨.
