The Spanish Match
In the early 17th century, European politics and diplomacy were often intertwined with marriage alliances between royal families. One of the most notable, yet ultimately failed, attempts at such an alliance was the "Spanish Match," the intended marriage between Charles the First of England and the Spanish Infanta of Spain.
