Disclaimer:
1. Just a motivational video based on what feels right to me based on my previous experience. This might not apply to everyone, but just thinking out loud just in case it allows for.
2. A number of ideas have been made much far more simplistic so that they can be communicated succinctly.
3. The ideas towards which your brain defaults depends on your present state of brain (tired? happy? just woke up?) but I'm just averaging that out for the sake of argument here.
Script:
Take sometime to think about this closely, what does your brain default to when you're idle; what is in your brain space, what to you tend to think about and what kind of behaviors do you lean towards? Do you tend to pick your phone and see your instagram feed? Do you open YouTube to watch the next funny video? Or do you default into working on the next big idea for a goal you set?
This default behavior of the brain that might seem so insignificant, I would argue, is the key to put up the best show you're capable of. This is one of the biggest things you need to fix if you have big goals that you want to accomplish. In my personal experience, I was most satisfied in the past when I filled my brain space with thinking about my goals and how to achieve them. Presently, I am not very satisfied because I default towards looking at cricket scores each time I'm idle. I default towards looking at these scores even when I'm studying and I get stuck somewhere. I feel this is a clear recipe for failure: defaulting towards actions that I know are not good for me.
Hence, I am going to work towards fixing that behavior now. It is one of the most important things I need to do if I wanna play my A game. I'm going to use principles from psychology research for behavior change to revise what my brain defaults towards. I urge you to do the same.
