Just when you think it can’t get any better… Basil and Dennis Bacon from Lake Ozark, Missouri do it again. The father-son team—and small-business owners of GrandpasGoodyGetter.com—have recently made improvements to their robust black walnut cracking machine and shears.

Since the beginning of their business venture, the Bacons have always worked on ongoing improvements, with every iteration of their inventory changeover. Simply put, their older models—albeit still awesome—were selling out and they needed to manufacture more units. So, they decided to make some improvements to some of the parts before building a new inventory.
Although the shipping box and packaging has not changed. There are several little things that make this new & improved 2024 version better than ever:
1) The new cam shaft thread holds the handle better. So, there should be no customers reporting an issue of a handle breaking. Although that was a very rare occurrence in the past.
2) Some metal parts are made of harder metal than previously. Meaning some are now made of “mid steel”.
3) New shears with tan grips are stronger than the older red-grip ones. They will last longer. But again, wearing out shears was a very rare occurrence in the past.
4) New logo label because marketing must always stay modern (so they say).
5) Dennis Bacon says it just seems to crack better. Although I am unsure how it could crack better than the last model. I think they are just a little bias, and favor the new version, because they worked so hard on getting the improvements made.
