Tenet Media was a right-wing media company founded by Lauren Chen and her husband Liam Donovan in January 22. Lauren Chen previously had worked for RT and had done various segments for them. According to the Department of Justice, two employees of Russian state-controlled media company RT approached Lauren Chen and her cofounder about starting the media company Tenet, and employing various content creators.
Among the content creators that ended up working for Tenet Media, were Benny Johnson, Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, Lauren Southern, Matt Christiansen, and Tayler Hansen. Tenet Media often featured other conservative guests, like Vivek Ramaswamy and Kari Lake.
RT allegedly funneled around $10 million into Tenet to distribute content to U.S. audiences with hidden Russian government messaging. Tim Pool has since claimed that he was a victim, despite clearly having put out pro-Russian content, claiming Ukraine is an enemy.
The charged Russian nationals, Kostiantyn Kalashnikov and Elena Afanasyeva, were involved in day to day operations of Tenet by fall 2023, using false names to conceal they were Russian RT employees.
