E-bike tour to Winnenden. "A complete fiasco."
E-bike tour from my front door to Winnenden – loud, chaotic, but still worthwhile...
What was supposed to start as a relaxed ride quickly turned into a somewhat different kind of tour. I set off spontaneously from my front door – without much planning, just out and on my e-bike. Destination: Winnenden. The idea: nature, exercise, maybe discover a few new trails.
Well... and then reality struck.
A large part of the route led along busy country roads – loud, stressful, and definitely not what I imagined a relaxing tour would be. Cars, trucks, endless noise. The wind in my ears was more pleasant in places than the traffic noise.
But as is so often the case: you make the best of it. And that's exactly what I tried to do. Between all the noise, there were always brief moments of peace – small patches of woodland, a few country paths, a nice view of the landscape. These moments grounded me again.

Standing in Winnenden, at the memorial where this terrible massacre took place – that was difficult.
At first glance, the place seems quiet, almost idyllic. But the history is palpable in the air. I paused for a moment. I reflected. I felt. And simply tried to approach the place with respect.
In moments like these, you realize how important it is not only to cover the kilometers, but also to arrive. And to listen – even when it's quiet.
Sometimes the path leads you not only to new places, but also back to yourself.
