Secluded Norway Basin | Lose the Crowds
If you only have time for a short trip while in Eastern Oregon, travel to Halfway then Cornucopia and you'll find the route to Norway Basin in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. At Cornucopia Lodge it was suggested that we take the long trail to Norway Basin as it is mild compared to the short way. Since we left late in the day we ended up camping in a burn the first night, but we were happy we listened to the advice as we came out the short way and it was the kind of steep that keeps your toes crammed into the front of your hiking boots. If you enjoy mountain hiking, wilderness back packing, and especially backpacking in the Wallowa Mountains, you will want to consider this hike.
