GiGi Needs your help!
Information.
Hi, my name is Victoria I am the mummy of Gigi, my two-year-old French bulldog fur baby. Gigi is the loveliest gentle kind natured little girl, unfortunately, over the last few days our luck has taken a turn for the worst. Gigi is healthy, with no medical conditions. I called for her to go out for her last minute toileting about 11:30 pm on Christmas Eve to find that she was dragging her back legs, I could see she was in clear discomfort, so called the emergency vets to get her seen. Gigi was given pain, relief and anti-inflammatory. She needed to see a specialist, but due to the Christmas timing, this couldn’t have come at a worse time.. I was advised to take her home and keep her in a confined space for the next couple of days until we could get her to a specialist, the following morning Christmas Day, I tried to assist her to go to the toilet and she screamed out in terrible pain, I took her back to the emergency vet, and of course I’ve had to pay out a substantial amount as all treatment has been based over the Christmas period. She was kept in and observed overnight, and given strong pain relief, and help to relieve her bladder. At 8:30 am this morning boxing day I took the dreaded call no loving dog owner wants to hear. The vet told me that due to no specialist available over the Christmas period she has deteriorated and it may be time to make the kindest decision to let her go. She wasn’t in any pain at that point in time as she was heavily medicated, so I asked them to give me half an hour to get my head around things and also if that is what was needed to happen. I would like to be there with her. Thank God I asked for that half an hour which allowed me time to do some research and speak to a few people that know about the condition of a slipped disc in French bull dogs, the outcome is I drove her to Bristol to see a specialist for a second opinion. Within 20 minutes of seeing her and testing her reflexes, the specialist said she is currently classed as paraplegic. However, there is no reason to put this young dog down. I can operate and have her back to good health. She will need three weeks confined recovery and physiotherapy, but there is no reason why she cannot function and be a healthy dog again..
The cost for her MRI and a CT scan plus surgery to prevent this ever happening again comes to 5000+ I have other dogs and consider myself a loving responsible dog owner. I have had insurance policies that I have paid thousands into over the years.. unfortunately, in recent years, I have been struck with some health issues myself resulting in me having reconstructive surgery and having to take a few months off work. For this reason, and in the current climate with everything costing so much, I haven’t been on the ball with my policies. After checking Gigi’s policy to my horror it lapsed in October. I am now doing everything in my power to raise funds to get my fur baby well and home. I appreciate how difficult times are for everyone in the current climate, but all I ask if you can spare a little to help my beautiful Gigi it will be truly appreciated.
