ALPHA PROJECT
Alpha Project strives not to manage homelessness, but rather to end it for its clients by offering jobs, not handouts, respect not pity and empowerment not control. We provide the homeless with the tools they need to be the very best they can be. Each program offered by the Alpha Project focuses on assisting participants to attain their own optimal level of independence. For most of our program participants, successful completion of our programs will mean complete and permanent independence through education, employment, sobriety, and stability. For those clients with special needs, our programs maximize their own potential and support as much independence as possible. All of our clients regardless of their history are encouraged, supported, and assisted in reaching their maximum potential with dignity and respect.
SAN DIEGO RESCUE MISSION
San Diego is the 8th largest city in the United States, but 4th largest for homelessness. It’s clear that homelessness is our #1 issue. Each night, there are 10,000 men, women, and children without a place to call home in our city. At the San Diego Rescue Mission, our goal is to get people off the streets permanently. We can’t do this without the support of the community. Volunteers, corporations, churches, and private donors make it possible to transform the lives of those who are experiencing homelessness. Our programs are designed not only to meet the immediate, tangible necessities of those who come to us in need but also to address the underlying issues of the heart. This is how lives are transformed, impacting San Diego one life at a time.
NOAH CENTER
The Homeless Transition Center of the future. We call it the Noah Center because it is an ark of hope. It is a way out of temporary housing in six months. During this time clients receive medical and psychological services, drug counseling, nutritious meals, competency-based job training, financial advice, family therapy, spiritual guidance, and goal setting in a proactive environment. So far we did not build a Noah Center but we created the blueprint for one that can easily be duplicated. It is based on the most successful existing transition centers.
