From the past to the present, despite the military's dress code to create "unity," there have always been those who seek shortcuts to "dress up" and stand out. One memorable story is about a Thai fighter pilot in a German uniform. Who was he? Why did he dress like a German?
Air Vice Marshal Thosapol Sisurakrai, formerly known as Sewatsin Sisurakrai, is the son of a pilot during the Indochina and Greater East Asia conflicts, Luang Pleum Praharn Hao (Pleum Jindalat), a cadet during the late World War II period. During his time, he was deeply impressed by and admired the Nazi German army. This was partly because Germany had never had a conflict with Thailand in the past.
When Air Vice Marshal Thosapol served as a pilot for the Royal Thai Air Force after the end of World War II, Thailand received Bearcat aircraft (B.K. 15) from the United States as part of its military aid. This led to the establishment of the Royal Thai Air Force's aerobatic squadron.
