Stop shading! Start shading!
Pencil shading. When and how to shade, and when to shade. We'll explore this in this video. I want to rehabilitate shading a bit. Usually, in drawing lessons, everyone talks about shading exclusively. But that's not entirely true. Hatching is, of course, a fundamental technique in graphic drawing. First and foremost, it's because hatching is convenient for connecting areas of tone, especially if the hatching lines are sharp. I talked about this and demonstrated it in a separate video. I'll leave a link to it below. But despite its significant advantages, hatching has a significant drawback: it's complex. It also takes longer to do. That's why in some places where the main advantage of hatching isn't noticeable, we can shade. And it's precisely these situations that I want to talk about in this video.
