Last five years content makers received $24 billion, Apple only spent $10 billion to create those sales. iTunes costs about $3.5 billion/yr to operate. Non-app media still make up two-thirds of iTunes in terms of sales value but their growth is now 28 percent vs. about 50 percent for apps.
Steve Jobs tried to save HP in 2010, when then CEO Mark Hurd was stepping down because of sexual harassment scandal. Steve offered to call each board member personally and convince them to let Hurd stay. HP has taken a sharp turn downward ever since.
