Mississippi Power - 2018 BEAM Event
Mississippi Power and the Gulf Coast Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) partnered to host the 14th annual Blacks in Energy Awareness Month (BEAM) event on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The event exposed minority high school students in the area to career opportunities in the energy industry.
Approximately 100 juniors and seniors from schools along the Mississippi Gulf Coast learned about careers in energy, scholarships, personal development skills, as well as participate in breakout sessions and interactive activities.
The high schools that participated in this year’s event included: Bay, Biloxi, D’Iberville, Gulfport, Harrison Central, Long Beach, Moss Point, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula, Pass Christian, St. Martin and West Harrison.
