Bucket List is about holding onto the hope of what something could be rather than seeing what’s there. I was inspired by hearing someone defining nostalgia as “holding onto the way things never were” and it made me immediately write the poem that became the first verse. It’s about a relationship that just isn’t good, it never was, but somehow there’s this imagined potential based on nothing but hope itself that it might be one day be better.
