Providing Thanksgiving Dinner to Our Community
When a local group that has organized a sit-down holiday community meal for the past 47 years decided it was impossible to do during the pandemic, National Life partnered with Sodexo and other local companies and organizations to serve up 820 traditional Thanksgiving meals to our community.
Thirty one volunteers and 19 delivery drivers turned out to help distribute the meals at a site in downtown Montpelier and at our own front door. Our volunteers were able to provide prepackaged meals to each person who requested one.
The pandemic made it impossible to have a communal meal. But the massive effort ensured that families throughout central Vermont and even some students at the University of Vermont had a traditional meal for the holiday.
It’s humbling to see our teams pitching in, wearing masks and practicing social distancing, to make sure that we live the values that we espouse.
