Philip Marshall: Romanza
Phillip Sear plays on piano a piece originally for organ manuals from 1992 by the English organist and choirmaster Philip Marshall (1921-2005)

Marshall was born in Yorkshire, and after WW2 service, spent much of his life in organist/choirmaster posts in northern England. He created the cathedral choir school in Ripon in 1960, and was subsequently organist at Lincoln Cathedral for 20 years. Per his Guardian obituary: "Marshall rejoiced in British 19th and early 20th century organ music. His love of colour could be heard in his improvisatory gifts as well as in his subtle skills as an accompanist. As a choral technician he was always demanding and, although sparing in praise, obtained the highest standards." Marshall's non-liturgical works include a piano concerto.
