Visio is a great tool that I love using to create all kinds of diagrams and visualizations. But it is not immune from some classic PC-usage problems, which include:
Losing your train-of-thought while switching between mouse and keyboard.
Annoyance at having to search for a command buried in a drop-down on an obscure ribbon tab.
Frustration at having to repeatedly execute several commands for a task that you need to frequently perform.
As I found out in tonight's "messing around programming session", we can add voice as an additional input method, and relieve some of this tedium!
I whipped up a VSTO/Office Add-in for Visio, using Visual Studio 2015. I made use of the ready-to-go System.Speech namespace/.NET library to activate a small set of test commands, which turn out to be fairly useful, despite it being play-code.
There's no source code, nor download associated with this video, it's just a show-and-tell session to get the wheels turning inside your head, and to demonstrate the possibilities of automation and Visio!
