Looking back on the Afropollination residency’s creations and collaborations between Kampala, Uganda in the Villa Nyege and Hamburg, Germany aboard the MS Stubnitz …
Part 3 focuses on the live performances that were either conceived, reworked, or refined during the residency programs. Acts like PÖ, that created an entire character to accompany the vocal experimentations of her debut album, Cociage. Or Sisso & Maiko, seasoned singeli veterans who were able to take their performance to the next level with custom outfits, more gimmicks, and even wilder dance performances, tested on stages like Nyege Nyege Festival Paris, and culminating in a viral Boiler Room performance. Whether on the Nile at Nyege Nyege Festival, aboard the MS Stubnitz, at Berlin’s CTM Festival or exclusive clubs like Berghain, the residency gave the time and space to let artists create performances to mark audiences around the world.
