Design – Winner: Pixieset
-Pixieset’s design is beautiful, clean and modern. It’s gallery is easy to user and makes for a really intuitive viewing experience for your clients.
-I’m not crazy about Shootproof’s gallery design, BUT it does offer two unique features - you can customize the color scheme of your galleries and you can create a custom music playlist for your clients to listen to as they’re viewing their photos.
-Pic-time’s design is the most unique out of the 3. If there is one word i’d use to describe it, it’d be minimalistic. Definitely beautiful!
Pricing – Winner: Pic-time
-Pic-time offers 20 GB of FREE storage. That’s amazing considering that’s about 6000 high-resolution files that you can upload for free.
-If you like using your galleries as a form of backup storage, I’d recommend going with an unlimited plan. At the moment, Shootproof and Pic-time offer unlimited plans, Pixieset does not. Shootproof charges $60/month and Pic-time charges $40/month for unlimited storage. $40/month for UNLIMITED storage is a phenomenal deal, no question about it.
Customer Support – Winner: All Are Great
-They are all equally timely and helpful with their support, but I will say that Pic-time does offer live chat support, which is always a bonus if you’re looking for an immediate answer.
Contracts – Winner: Shootproof
-At the moment, Shootproof is the only gallery that allows you to send + sign contracts all within Shootproof. This makes for a really seamless experience for your clients. You can send your contracts and get them signed there, as well as send your photos all in one space.
-Backend Interface/User Friendliness – Winner: Pixieset
-Pixieset’s backend is SO intuitive to use; it’s also clean and modern looking.
-Out of the 3, Shootproof’s backend needs the most improvement. From a design perspective, it’s messy and not intuitive. When I used it, I always felt like I had to be looking for whatever feature I needed to find.
-Loading Speed – Winner: Pic-Time
-For me, Pic-time has loaded my photos the fastest.
-Mobile Capabilities – Winner: All Are Great
-Shop Marketing Capabilities – Winner: Pic-Time
Pic-time is the only gallery (at the moment) that gives you the option to send personalized coupons to past clients. They have a wide variety of templates you can customize and send. So, if you wanted to send your couple a special offering on their one year wedding anniversary, this can easily be done via Pic-time.
-Pic-time also automatically uploads your client’s photos onto products. It makes the shopping experience incredibly visual. Pic-time uses smart analytics to create a personalized shopping experience. The system tracks how each user visits the gallery and places the images with the most engagement directly onto the store product homepage.
-Just like you can design client albums, you can also design a lot of other products (calendars, magazines, cards, gallery boards, etc.). You can then send these designs to your clients and then they can approve them and easily checkout.
The gallery I personally ended up going with is Pic-time.
The reason being is that it’s shop + marketing capabilities are currently unparalleled.
-But hey, if you’re someone who really values the ability to send/sign contracts all in one place, Shootproof may be the best option for you. Or, if you really value an intuitive gallery design/interface, Pixieset may be the way to go.
