A quiet death

This is a song about being reminded of some past feelings. Not a sad song in any sense. The image is of an old cart. In the past in Tianjin things were constantly moved from the port which was the river to the houses where the well to do lived (mainly wealthy Chinese and their various concubines) in the various concessions. This cart is over 100 years old and is a testament to the skill of its creator. The timbers were carefully chosen and the iron work is still in immaculate condition. The cart rests outside the famous 'porcelain house' in the Five Avenues in Tianjin.

Here are the lyrics.

'My heart had been hoping
For a quiet death.
With nought hope in anything left.

And then there you were,
There you were.'

After living in China for over ten years I began to think about some of the things that friends were saying to me about China. And I sort of thought it might be useful to make some videos so they could SEE and HEAR what the country is really like or at least the small part of it that I experience.
