Weirdo Kisses Mother Opossum

They are the most misunderstood animal and are often mistreated by those that mistake their fear from aggression.

Opossums rarely get into attics compared to raccoons, squirrels and rats but it is possible.
Opossums:
cannot carry rabies
are marsupials so they carry their babies in their pouch.
have more teeth that any other mammal.
have a prehensile tail (they can hold things with it), though contrary to popular belief, they do not hang from it.
have opposable thumbs on their back feet...just like you do on your front.
can have 13 babies.
When an opossum gets scared, they will show their teeth...this is more of a cowardice grimace than a display of aggression. If they get too scared, many will just pass out :)
Opossums are not only in The Tampa Bay Area but all over the country. It most cases they never really need to be trapped; they are more just "in the wrong place at the wrong time" and more just get in the way when trapping for raccoons, armadillos, squirrels, groundhogs and skunks.
